Students from Coastal Carolina University founded and manage an event called Tongues in Common. It is essentially an open mic event at which any member of the community can share any of their talents. The primary focus is on writing and poetry. Tongues in Common provide students an outlet to get feedback on the work that they have produced after learning lessons in their classes. The event is held at Yoga in Common, which is located in The Market Common in Myrtle Beach. I serve as emcee and facilitator of the event.

This poem won the 27th Paul Rice Poetry Broadside Contest judged by poet, Jason McCall. This piece is an elegy which aims to reflect on inheritance, loss, and memory.
